He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in four states and a master-level Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) with the internationally-recognized Institute for Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM).

Mr. Zimmerman joined with his fellow corporate officers to establish ZimTech as a full-time business in 1993. Prior to that, he worked several years as a project manager and engineer at a large, nation-wide, engineering consulting firm. His other experience has included ten years with the active-duty military, heavy industry, and a government research lab. Over the years, he has specialized in developing economical environmental compliance strategies and loss-prevention techniques.

Mr. Zimmerman has completed extensive graduate studies at Georgia Tech specializing in environmental engineering and risk management, including modeling the fate and transport of contaminants in the environment.

As an undergraduate in aerospace engineering at Tech, he worked as a research assistant in fire safety, air pollution and noise control technology. He is now a part-time adjunct faculty member at Tech and Kennesaw State University (KSU), lecturing in risk-based corrective action technology and hazardous materials management.

A member of many professional, trade, and technical organizations, Andy has lectured and published papers on innovative environmental cleanup technologies, risk-based corrective action, aircraft fuel tank structural failures, spill-prevention management and air pollution control using advanced clean-coal technology. He has actively participated on committees working with state environmental authorities to help develop rational regulatory standards for hazardous materials management.

He is a past chairman of the state Environmental Technical Committee with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and has had a leadership role in the Environmental Issues Committee with the Consulting Engineers Council of Georgia (CEC/G). He also serves his local community as a deacon at Northside Christian Church in Marietta.
